What is the meaning of Yosseph’s 4 river’s cup ? (Cabalistic kiddush cup)
One of the signature products of yosseph.com is the Four Rivers Silver kiddush cup. This glass is unique. It may look like a classic kiddush glass, but beware! Take a good look inside and you will see that it doesn’t really look like one.
In fact, you can actually see names engraved in the inner wall of this kiddush glass. In addition to its very special design, this glass will give you access to a Segula dating back to King Solomon that was only rediscovered 200 years ago by the pioneering cabbalists of their time.
These explanations are taken from the siddur of Rabbi Shalom Shar’abi (Rachach). They were revealed by an angel called “Maguid” to a student of the Rachach called Rav Titzhak z”al.
The angel reveals the secret of the four names of the rivers that flow from Gan Eden and their therapeutic and liberating capacity (segula) for a great number of ailments, including sterility, infectious diseases, epidemics, etc.
This secret was first revealed by King Solomon when he explored all the wisdoms of the plant and animal world. It was then that he wrote what is known as the “Sefer Harefuot” (Manual of Healing). This book was used until the time of King Hezekiah (about 700 BC) who decided to bury it underground since people no longer turned to G-d for healing but merely applied the advice in the book methodologically.
Since then, no one had access to the secret contained in this manual for over 2000 years. Only in the middle of the 18th century did an extraordinary event take place in Eretz Yisrael. A Maguid (angelic teacher) gave Rav Titzhak, a famous kabbalist of his time, a priceless secret from the famous Sefer Harefuot. He taught him the exact combinations based on the four names of the rivers that make up this segula. The Segula was originally practiced by writing these combinations on a piece of paper which was then dissolved in a liquid, like the famous Ritual of the Sotah woman (parashat Nasso of the book of Bamidbar). It was also possible to engrave these combinations on a food and to ingest it directly for the one who mastered them.
The person who witnesses the power of this segula will automatically be seized with a powerful Emuna, borrowing from the idea that spiritual forces are not limited and governed by the laws of Nature. The man who relies on his Creator gets out of the yoke of Nature and comes under the direct Providence of the Divine.
This segulah can also be applied by pronouncing the words formed by the combinations, associated with the kavana (intention) to make the beneficial spiritual flows descend on our material world which is only the receptacle of these energies.
One of the best times to use this segulah is during the Saturday night Havdalah for the success of the person and his family for the coming week. It is advisable to repeat the Segulah every week.
The use of a glass (preferably silver) in which these precise combinations are engraved is also a recognized and accessible form for the general public to perform this segulah. Indeed, it will not be necessary to master the writing of the combinations nor to know necessarily all the parameters. In this form, you have in your hands a Segulah that can be reused endlessly. Indeed, the fact that the letters are engraved on the inner wall of the glass, the wine contained in the glass will penetrate these letters and will be “marked” as signed by these Kabbalistic combinations. The wine is then consumed by the person using the glass and shared with all the guests.
Today, many people are using similar glasses, more or less noble. You will find on the market glass or metal glasses that have the ambition to realize this segulah. However, it should be taken into account that names cannot be engraved on glass, and classic metal glasses are machine-made. Unlike those, the glass offered on yosseph.com (https://yosseph.com/product/four-rivers-cup/) is made exclusively by hand in solid silver (sterling 925), the combinations of letters are also engraved by hand by a goldsmith who is himself a scrupulous orthodox Jew of the Halacha in Jerusalem.
We also had the idea of transforming this glass into a unique object for each of our customers. For this purpose, we propose among other things to adapt the exterior design of the glass to your liking with the names of your choice (yourself, your relatives, the bride and groom, the bar mitzvah etc.)
Here is a picture of the combinations based on the 4 names of the rivers coming out of Gan Eden: Pishon, Gi’hon, ‘Hidekel and Perat. (photo)
We find these 4 rivers in the story of the creation of the world in the parashah of Bereshit (Genesis).
